It All Started in a Marzipan Factory
It is a big step from marzipan to crisps. However, the history of KiMs started at a Danish marzipan factory in the beginning of the 1960's.
Marzipan is mostly enjoyed at Christmas time. The management decided to try its hand with snacks. Snacks were, at this time, virtually unknown in Denmark.

The brand name KiM was registered in 1961. In 1963, the first salted peanuts appeared on shop shelves. It was only in 1965 that the products were introduced under the later well-known brand name of KiMs.

Since the 1960's, KiMs has changed hands a few times. Today, Chips AB and Orkla are among the owners, and the group is market leader in the Nordic and Baltic region.

In 1971, KiMs started construction of its current factory on Fyn, Denmark. Since then, it has expanded several times, both with extensions to the factory and with acquisitions of new companies.

In the 1980's, KiMs started supplying crisps and snacks to international customers. The first market outside Denmark was the UK.
